Seeing The End
You and I will both face God at some point in our lives. If not during our lives, then at our death. This is a certainty explained many times in the bible. And it should be this way since we have been born into this world without the choice to be born or not be born; we should know the being responsible for causing our lives to be. Some people have the unique, uncommon experience of meeting God early during their lives here on Earth. Most people don’t meet Him until they die after about 70 or more years of life. For you and I, whether it be 1 or 50 years from today, we will certainly meet Him. But, I don’t want to wait until I die. Neither should you.
I want to meet Jesus face-to-face as soon as possible. If there is anything worth pursuing, anything worth my time, effort, strength, or life, it is to see and know the person responsible for my existence and I am certain that this effort has eternal value. That is why it is written that the essence of eternal life is knowing Jesus Christ🕮. Knowing Him must also be my foundation for understanding everything else I experience in life because He is the basis for every-thing and every experience. It is also written that all things were made through Him and nothing was made apart from Him🕮. This means that we could never fully understand anything else without also knowing the One from whom everything else came into being. So, our pursuit is not only to see Him but also to know who He is.
Therefore, I am pursing God; but, God must be pursuing me too. Would you believe that? God, Himself, is pursuing a relationship with you! We know this is true because He tells us on the last day, many will hear from Him, “I never knew you.”🕮 Some of us He will have known and others, who claim to have known Him, He will not have known. The phrase, “knew you,” used in these verses refers to an intimate relationship with Him. God is saying that on the last day, He will separate the people who He had a relationship with from those He didn’t. Relationships require both parties to participate in the relationship to the degree that each party is capable. This means that not only am I pursuing God, but that He is also pursuing me! Plus, God is pursing me to a much greater degree than I to Him because of His immeasurable ability to do so.
If God is indeed pursing me, then I surrender to His pursuit because if not sooner, at the end of my life I will meet the God who created me. Before that moment, I want to know who He is. We are all moving closer and closer to that day. Every single one of us. Regardless of who we were during our life. Whether we were kind or evil. Rich or poor. Christian or Buddhist. There’s no escape for you either. He caused our lives to exist. He must have done so with purpose. I want to know that purpose. I want to know Him! You will too.
